Journalists for Human Rights Presents
In a time of rising anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric around the world, the need for bold, honest storytelling has never been greater.
Join Journalists for Human Rights for a compelling live podcast recording -- Queer Voices and Visibility in Hostile Times -- presented in partnership with Dignity Network Canada and Pink Triangle Press.
This powerful evening will explore the media’s role in shaping public understanding of LGBTQ+ rights, both in Canada and globally. Featuring acclaimed Kenyan writer and activist Kevin Mwachiro, Tara-Michelle Ziniuk, Managing Editor at Xtra, and moderated by award-winning journalist Lisa LaFlamme, the conversation will delve into how journalism can challenge discrimination, elevate queer voices and foster more inclusive societies.
Through personal stories and sharp insights, this panel will examine where media coverage falls short and how it can do better. An audience Q&A session will follow the recording, offering space to connect, reflect and continue the conversation. Presented with generous support from CUPE, NAV CANADA and TD Bank Group.
