ABOUT

2026 Polaris Music Prize Concert & Award Ceremony

The Polaris Music Prize Concert & Award Ceremony is where the country’s most exciting albums and songs are performed, debated, and ultimately celebrated.

This is not just an awards show — it is a front-row seat to the future of Canadian music.

A Gathering Of Canada’s Most Groundbreaking Musical Artists

Every year Polaris amplifies artists who go on to shape Canadian and global music. Past Polaris winners and Short List nominees include household names and critical icons such as:

Feist, The Weeknd, Drake, Metric, Tegan And Sara, Kaytranada, Tanya Tagaq, Caribou, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Backxwash, Haviah Mighty, Lido Pimienta, Jeremy Dutcher, Pierre Kwenders, and many more.

NPR has called Polaris “Canada’s highest music honour,” reflecting the role the Prize now plays in the country’s music culture.

What You’ll Experience

At the Concert, you will:

  • See a selection of that year’s Polaris Album Prize Short List nominees perform live.
Each performing artist delivers an intimate 1–3 song set, created especially for the Polaris stage. Lineup details are announced in July, after the nominee Short List is revealed.

  • Witness the crowning of the year’s best Canadian album, song, and heritage album.
The evening builds toward the live announcement of the Polaris Album Prize, SOCAN Polaris Song Prize, and the Slaight Family Polaris Heritage Prize (celebrating legendary albums made before 2006).

  • Experience genre-defying performances.
From experimental hip-hop and electronic to rock, folk, R&B, metal, and beyond, Polaris programming reflects the full spectrum of Canadian music — often in surprising combinations you will not find on a typical festival bill.

  • Feel the energy of a national moment.
Artists, industry, and music fans gather from across Canada in one room. The atmosphere is part concert, part community celebration, part live action debate about what “the best” Canadian music really sounds like.

About the Polaris Music Prize

The Polaris Music Prize is a Canadian charitable arts organization that annually honours the most artistically significant Canadian music of the year. An independent jury of music journalists, broadcasters, and other curators from across the country listens widely, debates intensely, and ultimately selects the Long List, Short List, and winners.

Polaris programmes — including the Polaris Festival, Long List, Short List, Concert & Award Ceremony, Heritage Prize, and commissioning projects like the Polaris Poster series — are designed to:

  • Celebrate the art of music. We bring together music lovers, artists, and a dynamic jury to discover, discuss, and award the best in Canadian music based on artistic merit.
  • Inspire fans in Canada and around the world to champion important Canadian music.
  • Show the transformative power of music to shape culture and identity.

When you buy a ticket, you are not only getting an unforgettable night at Massey Hall — you are helping Canadian artists and their most daring work reach more listeners, more stages, and more futures.
